GASTONIA, N.C. – The Barton baseball team (31-21) avoided elimination for a second straight day with a 5-4 upset victory over No. 10 North Greenville (43-13) Saturday afternoon at the 2025 Conference Carolinas Championship at CaroMont Health Park.
Barton, the sixth seed in the tournament, will face third-seeded Belmont Abbey (36-15) in another elimination game on Sunday starting at 1:00 p.m. The Trailblazers were the fourth seed in the tournament.

Gavin Gilmore (Eastampton, N.J.) hit the game-winning, two-run single in the top of the ninth inning as the Bulldogs downed the highly-ranked Trailblazers for the third time this year. Gilmore also assisted on the final play of the game by helping throw out a runner at third base in the bottom of the frame.

Ian Murphy (West Deptford, N.J.) added a two-run double in the eighth inning while sophomore
Dante Onorato (Cinnaminson, N.J.) improved to 5-0 with the victory.
For North Greenville, Gideon Antle (Licking, Mo.) hit a solo home run and drove in two runs but Kadan Roach (Moore, S.C.) fell to 2-1 after taking the loss. The game was delayed over an hour due to lightning and rain.
