GASTONIA, N.C. – The Barton baseball team (31-22) saw its 2025 season come to an end with a 15-4 loss to Belmont Abbey (37-15) Sunday afternoon on the fifth day of the Conference Carolinas Championship at CaroMont Health Park.
The Crusaders, the third seed in the tournament, will face eighth-seeded Emmanuel (29-25) in another elimination game later in the day
Belmont Abbey took care of Barton thanks to eight round-trippers including two from Todd Velotta (Sarasota, Fla.) and Caleb Burr (Mount Holly, N.C.). The Crusaders, who run-ruled the Bulldogs in eight innings, led off the eighth frame with four consecutive home runs.

Chase Waddell (Lucama, N.C.) finished with a pair of hits and hit his fifth home run of the year. Sophomore
Dante Onorato (Cinnaminson, N.J.) (5-1) suffered his first loss of the season.
Belmont Abbey's Spencer Cipro (Brookfield, Mass.) improved to 10-3 after earning the victory in relief.
