GASTONIA, N.C. – The Barton baseball team (30-21) survived to the third day of the 2025 Conference Carolinas Championship with a 7-3 victory over rival Mount Olive (30-21) Friday afternoon at Sims Legion Park.
The Bulldogs, the sixth seed in the tournament, was led by junior third baseman
Yariel Diaz (Fort Myers, Fla.). Diaz hit his team-leading 10th home run of the year and finished with three hits and two RBI in the win. The Trojans were seeded seventh.

Caleb Holland (Fayetteville, N.C.) added two hits and two RBI as well as the two teams played through an hour lightning delay.

Joe Rauscher (Plymouth Meeting, Pa.) (3-5) earned the victory in relief after pitching over five innings of scoreless baseball while limiting the Trojans to just two hits and striking out three batters.
Mount Olive's Anthony Mitta (Raleigh, N.C.) finished with a pair of hits and drove in two runs despite the setback. The Trojans' John Nelson McLamb (Salemburg, N.C.) (1-1) was tagged with the loss.
Barton will play another elimination game on Saturday at 11:00 a.m., at CaroMont Health Park in the league championship tournament.
