Barton women’s lacrosse rolls in regular season finale, 24-8 over Chowan

WILSON, N.C. – The Barton women's lacrosse team (10-6, 6-2) ended the regular season in fine fashion with a 24-8 win over Chowan (0-11, 1-7) Friday afternoon in a Conference Carolinas game at Electric Supply Company Field and Truist Stadium.

Barton senior attacker Kloe Martin (Dracut, Mass.) and senior midfielder Tamia Marshall (Wilmington, N.C.) both scored a game-high four times as the Bulldogs tied a school single-game record for goals.

Kate Matuza, a senior attacker from Hampstead, N.C., added six points – three goals and three assists – as the Bulldogs raced to a 10-0 lead in the first quarter and never looked back in the dominant victory.

Matuza leads the team in goals scored with 45 while the Bulldogs held sizable advantages in both shots taken (47-14) and ground balls (22-5).

Barton junior Avery Gandolf (Medina, Ohio) improved to 4-0 on the season after earning the victory in goal and stopping three shots while Chowan's goalkeeper, Kezia Ramos (Orlando, Fla.), made 11 saves but suffered the loss.

Barton, third seed in the 2025 Conference Carolinas Championship, will host sixth-seeded Emmanuel (8-7) on Tuesday, April 22, at 3:30 p.m., in the Quarterfinal Round.
