WILSON, N.C. – The Barton baseball team (26-15) fell to Emmanuel (19-22), 2-1 and 2-1, in a non-league regional doubleheader Saturday afternoon at Nixon Field.
Game One – Emmanuel 2, Barton 1 (10 innings)
The Lions' Jesus Cruz (Catano, PUERTO RICO) scored on a wild pitch in the top of the tenth inning in what proved to be the game-winning run while Landon Mokris (Huntingburg, Ind.) drove in a run with a sacrifice fly as the visitors were able to pull out the win.
Barton sophomore outfielder
Gavin Gilmore (Eastampton, N.J.) had an RBI single for the home team.
Emmanuel's Jamin Smith (Spokane, Wash.) (2-0) was credited with the win while Hunter Parks (Auburn, Ga.) pitched a scoreless tenth inning for his third save of the year.
Barton redshirt freshman
Brady Dunlop (Clayton, N.C.) (5-1) took his first loss of the season.
Game Two – Emmanuel 2, Barton 1
The Lions' Hayden Beall (Ethel, Miss.) hit the game-winning sacrifice fly in the top of the third inning – scoring Cruz – as Emmanuel completed the doubleheader sweep of Barton.
Emmanuel's Hunter Pirkle (Buford, Ga.) (5-5) earned the victory on the mound after allowing just one run over six innings of work while Zach Evans (Stockbridge, Ga.) pitched a scoreless seventh inning to register his first save of the season.

Matthew Rivers (Kernersville, N.C.) (2-3) suffered the loss despite going the distance. Junior second baseman
