ETTRICK, Va. – The Barton women's lacrosse team (3-3) won its second straight contest with a convincing 21-4 victory over Virginia State (1-4) Tuesday afternoon at Rogers Stadium.

Tamia Marshall (Wilmington, N.C.) and senior attacker
Kate Matuza (Hampstead, N.C.) both finished with four goals as the Bulldogs raced to an 11-1 lead after one quarter of play and never looked back in the victory.
Marshall crossed the 100-point mark for her collegiate career while senior attacker
Kloe Martin (Dracut, Mass.) totaled six points – three goals and three assists – as the Bulldogs outscored their last two opponents by a 44-7 score. Martin currently leads the squad this year in goals scored (14) and total points (20).
Barton held sizeable advantages in both shots taken (38-13) and ground balls (24-12) and senior
Savannah Graves (Calvert County, Md.) earned the victory in goal.
For Virginia State, Sophia Toye (La Plata, Md.) scored twice but Ilyana Jones (Mont Clare, Pa.) suffered the loss in goal despite nine saves on the day.
Barton opens Conference Carolinas play on Saturday, March 8, at Franklin Springs, Ga., against Emmanuel beginning at Noon while Virginia State travels to Tiffin, Ohio, to face Tiffin on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
