WILSON, N.C. – The Barton men's basketball team (12-11, 8-7) fell to Emmanuel (15-8, 13-2) by an 87-71 score on Saturday afternoon in a Conference Carolinas contest at the Shaw Athletic Center.
The Lions, who sit at the top of the league's Southwest Division standings, were led by Chris Dees (Amarillo, Texas) with a game-high 25 points while Tavarus Webb (Hartwell, Ga.) added 16 points as four Emmanuel players reached double figures in the triumph.
Emmanuel also led by as many as 25 points – 79-54 with 4:13 remaining in the contest – and the Lions shot 52 percent (35-of-68) from the field including 68 percent (21-of-31) in the second half as the home team pulled away.

Shawn Nelson (Miami, Fla.) led the visitors with 15 points and sophomore guard
Sean Quick-Streeter (Columbia, S.C.) added 12 points off the bench in the setback.
Barton hit just two-of-16 (12 percent) from behind the three-point line and turned the ball over 15 times in the losing effort.
Barton plays league-foe Lees-McRae in the final contest of a three-game road stand on Wednesday, February 12, at 7:00 p.m., in Banner Elk, N.C., while Emmaneul hosts Erskine on Tuesday starting at 7:00 p.m.
