WILSON, N.C. – The Barton men's volleyball team (6-4, 1-0) opened Conference Carolinas play with a 3-0 sweep of Lees McRae (0-8, 0-1) Friday evening at Wilson Gymnasium.
The Bulldogs won over the Bobcats by scores of 25-11, 25-18 and 25-19 and kept Lees-McRae winless on the season.
Barton was led by freshman outside hitter
Lawson Hink (Brookfield, Wis.) with 12 kills while senior setter
Seth Deppe (Mukwonago, Wis.) added 27 assists and seven digs in the victory.
The Bulldogs hit .294 for the match and finished with eight service aces in the triumph.
Lees-McRae was limited to just a .077 hitting percentage despite a match-high 13 kills from Austin Beaird (Erie, Ill.) in the losing effort.
Barton remains at home to take on King in a league match Saturday afternoon beginning at 2:00 p.m., while Lees-McRae plays Mount Olive in Mount Olive, N.C., on Saturday at 2:00 p.m., as well.
