WILSON, N.C. – The Barton men's basketball team (2-7) held off Elizabeth City State (0-6), 68-66, Saturday afternoon in a thriller at Wilson Gymnasium.

Christian Taylor (Waldorf, Md.) came off the bench to lead the home team with 18 points while junior guard
Jaylen Faber (Columbia, S.C.) added 14 points as the Bulldogs picked up their first home victory of the year.
Taylor and Faber combined for seven of the Bulldogs' nine treys as Barton was able to hold on after leading by as much as 16 points: 39-23 with just over two-and-a-half minutes remaining in the first half.
Elizabeth City State was led by Trevor Smith (Newport News, Va.) with a game-high 26 points and a three-point attempt by Braylon Wheeler (Lorton, Va.) rimmed out as time expired and Barton held on for the victory. Wheeler finished the contest with 14 points.
The Bulldogs held a 37-32 edge in rebounding in the triumph as well.
Barton remains at home to take on Shorter in a Conference Carolinas game next Saturday, December 13, beginning at 4:00 p.m. Elizabeth City State, meanwhile, returns home to host Shaw on Tuesday beginning at 7:30 p.m.
