Barton men’s basketball rallies to beat Shorter, 93-87, behind strong second half

WILSON, N.C. – The Barton men's basketball team (3-7, 1-2) rallied from an 11-point, second-half deficit to beat Shorter (3-5, 1-2), 93-87, Saturday afternoon in a Conference Carolinas contest at Wilson Gymnasium.

Barton junior guards Jaylen Faber (Columbia, S.C.) and Sean Quick-Streeter (Columbia, S.C.) both scored a season-high 26 points as the Bulldogs came back from a 71-60 deficit with just under 10 minutes remaining to pick up their first league win of the season.

Shorter's Donovan Shangase (Birmingham, Ala.) led the visitors with 25 points and the Hawks finished with nine three-pointers despite the setback.

Trailing by an 86-85 score with 51 seconds left, Faber would hit the game-winning trey and finished with six three-pointers in the victory.

Barton junior forward Chris Nobles (Raleigh, N.C.) added 19 points on seven-of-eight shooting including 12 points after intermission to help the home team rally for the win.

Barton also forced Shorter into 18 turnovers in picking up its second straight triumph.

Barton remains at home to host rival Mount Olive in a league contest Wednesday evening beginning at 7:00 p.m.  Shorter, meanwhile, travels to Franklin Springs, Ga., to face conference-foe Emmanuel on Tuesday starting at 7:00 p.m.
