MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. – The Barton men's basketball team (0-5) fell to Middle Georgia State (4-2), 95-77, Saturday evening on the final day at The Pickle Classic at Kornegay Arena on the campus of the University of Mount Olive.
The Knights' Greg Jones (Danville, Va.) was one of six players to reach double figures for Middle Georgia, finishing with 18 points in the win.
Middle Georgia State jumped out to a 55-33 halftime advantage and held off a few mini-runs by Barton to take the triumph. The Knights with 12 three-pointers and shot 55 percent (31-of-56) in the triumph as well.
Barton was led by senior forward
Trey Fields (Clayton, N.C.) with 17 points and hit all 11 free throw attempts but the Bulldogs continue to search for their first win of the year.

Trevur Smalls (Summerville, S.C.) added 13 points off the bench as the Bulldogs started the second half on a 12-0 run but couldn't get within double digits the rest of the way.
Barton opens Conference Carolinas play on Tuesday, November 25, at 7:00 p.m., when the Bulldogs travel to Pembroke, N.C., to take on UNC Pembroke.
Middle Georgia State, meanwhile, faces Valdosta State on Monday, November 24, at 7:00 p.m., in Valdosta, Ga.
