WILSON, N.C. – The Barton men's soccer team (4-5-2, 3-2-1) was shut out by Chowan (4-3-2, 2-2-2) by a 1-0 score Tuesday night in Conference Carolinas action at Electric Supply Company Field and Truist Stadium.
The Hawks' Cameron Letterlough (Asheboro, N.C.) scored the lone goal of the match when he took advantage of a loose ball involving the Bulldogs' goalkeeper and scored right in front of the net with just 12:01 remaining in the contest.
Chowan, which avenged an earlier loss to Barton at home in the middle of September, held a 19-11 advantage in shots taken.
The Hawks' goalkeeper, Lucas Kibrya (Birmingham, ENGLAND), earned the shutout victory after making three saves on the night.
Barton senior
Pedro Bonfa (Sao Paulo, BRAZIL) suffered the loss despite allowing just one goal while making four stops.
Barton remains at home to take on rival and conference-foe Mount Olive Saturday afternoon beginning at 1:00 p.m.
Chowan, meanwhile, returns home to take on Southern Wesleyan in a league match Saturday afternoon starting at 4:00 p.m.
