FERRUM, Va. – The Barton women's soccer team (3-5, 2-3) snapped a two-match losing streak with a 1-0 victory over Ferrum (2-5-2, 1-4) Saturday afternoon at Penn-Roediger Field.
The Bulldogs' lone goal came in the 74th minute when senior forward
Jenessa Gray (Orlando, Fla.) found the back of the net courtesy of a pass from junior midfielder
Lily Brooks (Wesley Chapel, Fla.), who was credited with the assist.
Gray has a team-leading two goals on the season.
Barton freshman goalkeeper
Lily Diedrich (Severna Park, Md.) earned her third shutout of the season after stopping five shots on the day.
The Bulldogs held a 17-16 edge in shots taken in the win.
Ferrum's goalkeeper, Ashli Wuss (Huntington, N.Y.), made seven saves on the afternoon but suffered the loss.
Barton returns home to take on Chowan in a conference contest Tuesday afternoon at 4:00 p.m. Meanwhile, Ferrum hosts Mount Olive on Tuesday evening starting at 6:00 p.m.
