FLORENCE, S.C. – The Barton women's volleyball team (6-17, 3-13) fell to Francis Marion (17-8, 14-1), 3-0, in a Conference Carolinas match Wednesday afternoon at the Smith University Center.
The Patriots, who swept the season series from the Bulldogs, won by scores of 25-18, 25-14 and 25-12.
Francis Marion's Madilyn Gartner (Albertville, Minn.) led the way with a match-high 18 kills while Aubrey Johnson (Chanhassen, Minn.) added 28 assists as the Patriots won their seventh straight contest.
Francis Marion also hit .311 for the match as the Patriots remained at the top of the East Division standings.
Barton was led by senior outside hitter
Lexi Wasil (Prescott, Ariz.) with a team-high 11 kills to go along with 12 digs for a double-double in the setback. Barton freshman setter
Camryn Vickery (Sophia, N.C.) totaled 17 assists as well in the losing effort.
Barton returns home to take on Young Harris in a league match Saturday afternoon beginning at 2:00 p.m.
Meanwhile, Francis Marion travels to Ferrum, Va., to take on Ferrum on Saturday, November 1, starting at 1:00 p.m., in a conference contest.
