PEMBROKE, N.C. – The Barton men's and women's swimming teams opened the 2025-26 season at UNC Pembroke's quad meet Saturday afternoon at the Sue Walsh Pool.
On the men's side, Barton senior
Natan Alexandre (Sao Paulo, BRAZIL) led the way with first-place finishes in the 50-yard (26.90) and 100-yard (58.82) breaststrokes.
Senior
Ethan Robinson (Dacula, Ga.) also finished second place in a trio of events: the men's 400-meter medley relay (3:38.49) and the men's 50-yard (21.83) and 100-yard (48.34) freestyle events.
Barton senior
Ethan Koekemoer (Durban, SOUTH AFRICA) took second in the men's 50-yard (25.77) and 100-yard (57.02) backstrokes as well. Koekemoer and Robinson were also part of the runner-up for 400-yard medley relay.
In the women's competition, freshman
Brianna Cafarelli (Farmington, N.Y.) took second in the women's 200-yard individual medley (2:26.91) while
Kristina Chudikova (Bratislava, SLOVAKIA) placed third in the women's 50-yard butterfly with a time of 26.40 seconds.
Barton swimming returns to the pool on Saturday, November 1, when the Bulldogs travel to Greenville, N.C., to compete in East Carolina University's quad meet against the Pirates, Lynchburg and Catawba beginning at 1:00 p.m.
