WILSON, N.C. – The Barton women's field hockey team (0-12) suffered a 4-0 loss to Maryville (8-3) on Senior Day Sunday morning at Truist Stadium and Electric Supply Company Field.
Prior to the contest, Barton honored its lone senior on the 2025 squad: senior forward
Candice Wainschel (Chico, Calif.).
The Saints scored a goal in each of the four quarters including two scores by senior Riley Monroe (O'Fallon, Mo.). Monroe opened the scoring just 5:31 into the contest on what proved to be the match-winner for the Saints.
Maryville's Cloey Turiello (Gilroy, Calif.) added a pair of assists as the Saints held a 29-1 advantage in shots taken in the win.
JoJo Cox (Louisville, Ky.) earned the shutout victory in goal for the visitors while freshman goalkeeper
Bryanna Snowball (Windsor, N.Y.) suffered the loss despite seven saves in the contest.
Barton remains at home to take on Lander on Tuesday in a South Atlantic Conference contest beginning at 1:00 p.m.
Maryville, meanwhile, faces Lander in Durham, N.C., at Katz Stadium on Monday beginning at Noon.
