BRISTOL, Tenn. – The Barton men's soccer team (5-7-1, 4-4-1) couldn't hold a one-goal halftime advantage in a 2-1 loss to King (4-5-3, 3-4-2) Saturday afternoon at Parks Field.
The Tornado's Campbell Moore (Dublin, Va.) scored the match-winner with 3:23 remaining in the contest.
King tied the scored at one-all on a penalty kick by Joe Elliott (Oxford, ENGLAND) in the 59th minute before Moore's heroics late in the contest.
For Barton, junior midfielder
Akos Tajtyi (Castellon, SPAIN) opened the scoring with his first goal of the season at the 18:59 mark on junior forward
Hayden Summerfield's (Norwich, ENGLAND) second assist on the season.
Barton senior goalkeeper
Pedro Bonfa (Sao Paulo, BRAZIL) made a pair of saves but suffered the loss. King held a 13-12 advantage in shots taken while Gavin Roux (East London, ENGLAND) made three stops and earned the victory in goal.
Barton looks to bounce back Tuesday at 5:00 p.m., when the Bulldogs return home to face Ferrum in conference action.
King hits the road and travels to Banner Elk, N.C., to take on Lees-McRae on Tuesday, October 21 in a league title starting at 4:30 p.m.
