FLORENCE, S.C. – The Barton women's soccer team (3-8, 2-6) suffered a 2-0 setback to No. 17 Francis Marion (11-0, 8-0) Wednesday evening at Hartzler Field.
The Patriots' Samantha Bodwell (Troutman, N.C.) opened the scoring with a goal in the 18th minute after finishing off a corner kick in the box.
Francis Marion held a one-goal advantage throughout the majority of the match before a penalty kick courtesy of Joy Brockman (Bernau, GERMANY) with just 61 seconds remaining in the match.
The Patriots, which swept the season series from the Bulldogs, held a 16-1 advantage in shots taken while Erin Grabeel (Gordonsville, Va.) earned the shutout victory in goal.

Barton remains on the road to take on league-foe King in Bristol, Tenn., on Saturday, October 18, beginning at 1:00 p.m. Francis Marion, meanwhile, hosts Ferrum in conference action Saturday beginning at 4:00 p.m.
