FLORENCE, S.C. – The Barton men's soccer team (5-6-2, 4-3-1) fell in a Conference Carolinas showdown with Francis Marion (5-3-3, 5-1-2), 2-0, Wednesday night at Hartzler Field.
The Patriots, who defeated the Bulldogs for the second time this season, received goals from Antonio Garda (A Coruna, SPAIN) and Matteo Benistant (Saint Didier Sous Aubenas, FRANCE) in the second half in the victory.
Clinging to a 1-0 advantage late in the contest, Benistant scored with 17 seconds left to ice the match for the home team.
Francis Marion held a 19-6 edge in shots taken while Ian Milla (Geiselwind, GERMANY) earned the shutout victory in goal after stopping six shots.

Pedro Bonfa (Sao Paulo, BRAZIL) made a season-high 12 saves despite the losing effort.
Barton hits the road for another league contest on Saturday, October 18, in Bristol, Tenn., against King starting at 3:30 p.m. Francis Marion remains at home to face Ferrum on Saturday night at 6:30 p.m., in a conference tilt.
