WILSON, N.C. – The Barton field hockey team (0-11, 0-8) fell to undefeated and No. 3 Newberry (11-0, 7-0) by a 5-0 score Tuesday afternoon in a South Atlantic Conference contest at Truist Stadium and Electric Supply Company Field.
The Wolves scored early and often – jumping out to a 3-0 lead after one quarter of play – and never looking back staying perfect on the season.
Newberry's Parker Keeler (Bridgeville, Del.) opened the scoring just 1:21 into the match while Emma Westbrook (Dover, Del.) tallied her team-leading 14th goal on the season in the triumph.
The Wolves tallied a 25-4 advantage in shots taken while Kensley Harris (Hampton Falls, N.Y.) played the first three periods, make a pair of saves and picked up the win.
Barton junior goalkeeper
Gracyn Arruda (Richmond, Va.) suffered the loss while freshman
Bryanna Snowball (Windsor, N.Y.) made six stops in reserve.
Barton remains at home to take on Maryville on Sunday morning beginning at 11:00 a.m. Meanwhile, Newberry takes on Lincoln Memorial in a league contest on Saturday at Noon in Harrogate, Tenn.
