WILSON, N.C. – The Barton women's soccer team (2-5, 1-3) was shut out by No. 21 Francis Marion (7-0, 5-0), 2-0, Wednesday afternoon at the Bulldogs Athletic Complex.
The Patriots, who remained unbeaten on the year, got goals from Davynn Godshall (Pikeville, N.C.) and Tehya Dave (Pittsburgh, Pa.) in the triumph.
Godshall's goal came just four-and-a-half minutes before intermission to open the scoring while Francis Marion held a 23-2 advantage in shots taken in the victory.
The Patriots' Erin Grabeel (Gordonsville, Va.) earned the shutout in goal while Barton freshman goalkeeper
Lily Diedrich (Severna Park, Md.) made 10 saves despite the loss.
Barton looks to bounce back on Saturday at 4:30 p.m., when the Bulldogs travel to Ferrum, Va., to play Ferrum in a league contest.
Francis Marion returns home to play Young Harris on Saturday afternoon in a conference match beginning at 1:00 p.m.
