WILSON, N.C. – The Barton men's soccer team (3-4-2, 2-1-1) suffered its first Conference Carolinas setback of the year with a 3-0 defeat to Francis Marion (3-2-3, 3-0-2) in a league showdown Wednesday evening at the Bulldogs Athletic Complex.
The Patriots' Matteo Benistant (Saint Didier Sous Aubenas, FRANCE) scored twice for the visitors including the match-winner on a penalty kick in the 23rd minute.
Antonio Garda (A Coruna, SPAIN) also scored for the Patriots, who held a 20-15 advantage in shots taken. Francis Marion' goalkeeper, Ian Milla (Geiselwind, GERMANY), made seven saves on his way to the complete game shutout.

Barton hits the road to take on Ferrum on Saturday night at 7:00 p.m., in a conference match in Ferrum, Va.
Francis Marion, meanwhile, returns home to host league-foe Young Harris on Saturday afternoon starting at 3:30 p.m.
