WILSON, N.C. – The Barton men's volleyball team (5-4) rebounded from a tough setback two nights ago and defeated Edward Waters (0-6) by a 3-1 score Thursday evening at Wilson Gymnasium.
The Bulldogs won over the Tigers by scores of 25-19, 18-25, 25-18 and 25-20 and responded after a tough five-set loss to Catawba on Tuesday in the home opener.
Barton was led by freshman outside hitter
Lawson Hink (Brookfield, Wis.) with a team-high 15 kills while senior setter
Seth Deppe (Mukwonago, Wis.) added 34 assists, eight digs and three kills in the victory.
As a team, the Bulldogs also totaled 15 blocks on the night and limited the Tigers to a .171 hitting percentage. Barton hit .314 for the match.
Edward Waters, a member of the SIAC, is still searching for its first win of the year but received 20 kills from Richard Hendricks (Kingston, JAMAICA) and 38 assists from Oneil Daley (Spanish Town, JAMAICA).
Barton opens Conference Carolinas play next Friday, February 7, at home against Lees-McRae beginning at 7:00 p.m., while Edward Waters faces Mount Olive on Friday starting at 7:00 p.m., in Mount Olive, N.C.
