VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The Barton men's volleyball team (4-3) defeated both Hood (3-0) and St. Norbert (3-2) Saturday at TowneBank Arena at the Jane P. Batten Student Center on the campus of Virginia Wesleyan University.
Barton 3, Hood 0
The Bulldogs swept the Blazers by scores of 25-12, 25-11 and 25-18 for their second straight shutout triumph.
Barton was led by senior right side hitter
Colton Wilson (Abingdon, Md.) with nine kills while senior setter
Seth Deppe (Mukwonago, Wis.) chipped in with 20 assists as the Bulldogs hit .333 for the match in the relatively easy win.
Hood's Charles Casas (Rehoboth Beach, Del.) finished with eight kills but the Blazers hit just -0.062 for the match. Barton also tallied 12 service aces in the win.
Barton 3, St. Norbert 2
In a close, back-and-forth affair, the Bulldogs prevailed over the Green Knights by scores of 25-18, 29-27, 23-25, 23-25 and 15-6.
Barton was paced by senior outside hitter
Jack Sandahl (Gloucester, Va.) with a match-high 16 kills in addition to 12 digs to complete the double-double while freshman outside hitter
Lawson Hink (Brookfield, Wisc.) added a dozen kills in the triumph.
St. Norbert's Kaden Kornaus (Appleton, Wis.) finished with a team-high 15 kills and 10 digs but the Green Knights were hurt by 19 service errors. Barton also totaled 16 blocks in the victory.
Barton next hosts Catawba in its 2025 home opener on Tuesday at Wilson Gymnasium beginning at 7:00 p.m.
