WILSON, N.C. – The Barton women's volleyball team (1-8, 0-3) saw a two-set advantage evaporate in a 3-2 loss to Francis Marion (2-8, 1-0) Wednesday evening at Wilson Gymnasium in a Conference Carolinas contest.
The Patriots won over the Bulldogs by scores of 22-25, 8-25, 25-19, 25-15 and 15-11 and snapped an eight-match losing streak.
Francis Marion was led by Kara Walker (Fayetteville, N.C.) with 13 kills and was one of four players to total at least nine kills on the evening while Mya Mendoza (Longwood, Fla.) added 43 assists and 10 digs for a double-double in the win.

Henly Sleight (Jackson, Mich.) led all players with 18 kills in addition to 10 digs and senior right side hitter
Lauryn Pitt (Greenville, N.C.) finished with 14 kills despite the loss. Barton also totaled 11 blocks in the losing effort.
Barton hits the road to take on Erskine in a league match Friday at 6:00 p.m., in Due West, S.C., while Francis Marion faces Belmont Abbey in Belmont, N.C., on Friday beginning at 6:00 p.m.
