WILSON, N.C. – The Barton women's volleyball team (1-9, 0-4) lost to UNC Pembroke (4-8, 1-1), 3-1, Tuesday evening in a Conference Carolinas match at Wilson Gymnasium.
The Braves won over the Bulldogs by scores of 25-19, 26-28, 25-17 and 25-22 to snap a two-match losing streak.
UNC Pembroke was led by Abby Peduzzi (Hilton Head, S.C.) and Savannah Whaley (Farmville, N.C.) with 16 and 15 kills, respectively, while Tyler Patterson (Jacksonville, N.C.) added 47 assists to lead the visitors to the win. Both Peduzzi and Whaley totaled 11 digs to notch double-doubles.
Barton senior outside hitter
Henly Sleight (Jackson, Mich.) notched a double-double as well – 11 kills and 11 digs – and senior setter
Isabella Ream (York, Pa.) tallied 18 assists and 13 digs in the losing effort. Barton also suffered its seventh consecutive setback.
Barton hits the road to take on Young Harris in Young Harris, Ga., on Friday in a league match beginning at 6:00 p.m., while UNC Pembroke hosts Mount Olive on Friday at 6:00 p.m.
