WILSON, N.C. – The Barton women's volleyball team (1-7, 0-2) fell to Converse (8-3, 2-0) in straight sets Saturday afternoon in a Conference Carolinas contest at Wilson Gymnasium.
The Valkyries won over the Bulldogs by scores of 25-16, 25-20 and 25-19 and won their third straight match.
Converse was led by Noemia Chiacchio (Campinas, São Paulo, BRAZIL) with 13 kills to go along with 14 digs for a double-double while Alysha Arroyo (Isabela, PUERTO RICO) added 23 assists in the victory.
The Valkyries also tallied 11 service aces as the visitors remained unbeaten in league play.
Barton was led by senior outside hitter
Henly Sleight (Jackson, Mich.) with seven kills and senior libero
Lilly Meyer (Greencastle, Ind.) finished with a team-high 14 digs in the losing effort.
Barton remains at home to take on Francis Marion in a league match on Wednesday evening starting at 7:00 p.m., while Converse travels to Central, S.C., to face Southern Wesleyan on Wednesday at 6:00 p.m.
