Barton women’s soccer downs Bluefield State, 3-0, on the road for fourth straight shutout

BLUEFIELD, W.Va. – The Barton women's soccer team (3-1-1) shut out Bluefield State (1-4), 3-0, Tuesday afternoon at the East River Soccer Complex.

Barton graduate student forward Lexis Goldberg (Sanford, N.C.) scored twice while sophomore midfielder Lilly Moss (Prairieville, La.) found the back of the net for her first goal of the season as the Bulldogs held a 27-2 advantage in shots taken in the dominant victory.

Goldberg leads the team with four goals on the young season while senior goalkeeper Taylor Primack (Lindenhurst, Ill.), the reigning Conference Carolinas Defensive Player of the Week, earned her fourth consecutive shutout after stopping a pair of shots on the afternoon.

The Bulldogs have allowed just three goals on the season:  all in the first contest against Wingate on Thursday, Sept. 5.  Bluefield State's Kaycee Coty (Peoria, Ariz.) suffered the loss in goal despite 13 stops on the day.

Barton opens Conference Carolinas play this weekend when the Bulldogs host Erskine at the Athletic Complex on Saturday beginning at 1:00 p.m., while Bluefield State hosts Carolina University Saturday at 6:00 p.m.
