FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. – The Barton men's volleyball team (12-11, 6-7) defeated Emmanuel (9-18, 3-10) in five sets, 3-2, Saturday afternoon in a Conference Carolinas contest at Shaw Athletic Center.
The Bulldogs won over the Lions by scores of 13-25, 18-25, 25-20, 25-22 and 19-17 and defeated Emmanuel in five sets for the second time this year. In addition, the Bulldogs rallied from two sets down in their previous meeting as well: a 3-2 victory on Friday, February 23, at Wilson Gymnasium.
Barton senior outside hitter
Brandon Johnston (Hawkes Bay, NEW ZEALAND) totaled 11 kills and added nine digs to near a double-double while freshman middle blocker
Ryan Geraci (Mukwonago, Wis.) also reached double figures in kills with 10 as the Bulldogs totaled 17.5 blocks in the victory.
Baron junior setter
Seth Deppe (Mukwonago, Wis.) finished with 45 assists as well in the triumph.
For Emmanuel, Eli Zdonek (Greenville, S.C.) totaled a match-high 34 kills and the Flying Fleet held a 69-51 edge in kills but the home team was hurt by 13 service errors in the setback.
Barton remains on the road to take on rival Mount Olive in the regular season finale on Thursday, April 11, beginning at 7:00 p.m., while Emmanuel hosts North Greenville Thursday at 7:00 p.m.
