MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. – The Barton men's volleyball team (12-12, 6-8) fell in three sets to rival Mount Olive (16-9, 9-5), 3-0, in the regular season finale Thursday night in Conference Carolinas action at Kornegay Arena.
The Trojans won over the Bulldogs by scores of 25-23, 25-19 and 25-22 and swept the season series from Barton.
Mount Olive was led by Justin Gregory (Pembroke Pines, Fla.) with 13 kills while Jackson Lahey (Pembroke Pines, Fla.) added 40 assists and four blocks as the Trojans hit .398 for the match in the victory.
Barton was paced by freshman outside hitter
Luke Deppe (Mukwonago, Wis.) and junior outside hitter
Jake Adams (Clermont, Fla.) with nine and eight kills, respectively, and junior setter
Seth Deppe (Mukwonago, Wis.) with 32 assists and four blocks as well in the losing effort.
Barton will be the fifth seed in the 2024 Conference Carolinas Men's Volleyball Championship and will take on fourth-seeded Mount Olive again on Tuesday, April 16, at 7:00 p.m., in the quarterfinal round.
