DUE WEST, S.C. – The Barton men's volleyball team (11-11, 5-7) fell to Erskine (12-9, 8-4) by a 3-0 score on Friday night at Belk Arena in a Conference Carolinas contest.
The Flying Fleet defeated the Bulldogs by scores of 25-19, 25-21 and 25-20 and swept the season series from Barton.
Erskine was led by Edgerrin Austin (Joilet, Ill.) with a match-high 16 kills while Francisco Pomar (Ponce, PUERTO RICO) tallied a double-double – 33 assists and 10 digs – in the victory. The Flying Fleet also hit .309 for the match and overcame 11 service errors for the win.
Barton was paced by junior outside hitter
Jack Sandahl (Gloucester, Va.) with a team-high 11 kills and junior setter
Seth Deppe (Mukwonago, Wisc.) totaled 23 assists to go along with six digs in the setback.
The Bulldogs, which suffered their second straight loss, hit just .135 for the contest.
Barton remains on the road to take on Emmanuel in Franklin Springs, Ga., on Saturday in a league contest at 2:00 p.m., while Erskine hosts Mount Olive on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. as well.
