WILSON, N.C. – The Barton men's lacrosse team (6-9, 4-3) fell to rival Mount Olive (10-3, 7-0), 14-10, in the regular season finale Friday night in Conference Carolinas action at Electric Supply Company Field and Truist Stadium.
The Trojans' Aidan Lalonde (Coquitlam, British Columbia, CANADA) scored a team-high four goals while Chaz Goodman (Odenton, Md.) tallied seven points – two goals and five assists – as Mount Olive clinched the league regular season championship outright.
Barton senior midfielder
Bryce Washington (Humble, Texas) scored four times as well but Barton couldn't withstand a late surge by Mount Olive in the fourth period. Barton sophomore attacker
Nick Nelson (Wilmington, N.C.) finished with a goal and two assists in the setback.
With the score tied at seven with just over five minutes left in the third period, Goodman scored what would be the game-winner and started a 5-0 run for the visitors that put the contest out of reach.
Mount Olive's Kurtis Lensing (Wake Forest, N.C.) earned the victory in goal after stopping 12 shots for the Trojans, winners of eight straight contests. Barton sophomore goalkeeper
Drew Wheeler (Fuquay-Varina, N.C.) suffered the loss despite four saves on the evening.
