MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Barton women's lacrosse team (7-10, 4-5) wrapped up the regular season portion of its schedule with a 20-7 win over Chowan (6-7, 3-6) Wednesday afternoon in a Conference Carolinas contest at Hawks Field.

Barton junior attacker Kate Matuza (Hampstead, N.C.) scored five goals while a pair of Bulldogs added three scores – sophomore attacker Julia Erickson (Calvert County, Md.) and junior attacker Avery Woodcock (Wilmington, N.C.) – as the visitors won their second straight contest.

Woodcock added four assists for seven total points as the Bulldogs broke the contest open by reeling off 10 straight goals after holding a 9-5 advantage late in the second quarter.

Barton held edges in both shots taken (41-17) and ground balls (31-21) while sophomore goalkeeper Avery Gandolf (Calvert County, Md.) made seven stops and earned the win.

For Chowan, Grace Taylor (Baltimore, Md.) tallied three goals and two assists but Ariel Johnson (Baltimore, Md.) suffered the loss despite 13 saves on the afternoon.
