MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Barton women's lacrosse team (7-10, 4-5) wrapped up the regular season portion of its schedule with a 20-7 win over Chowan (6-7, 3-6) Wednesday afternoon in a Conference Carolinas contest at Hawks Field.

Kate Matuza (Hampstead, N.C.) scored five goals while a pair of Bulldogs added three scores – sophomore attacker
Julia Erickson (Calvert County, Md.) and junior attacker
Avery Woodcock (Wilmington, N.C.) – as the visitors won their second straight contest.
Woodcock added four assists for seven total points as the Bulldogs broke the contest open by reeling off 10 straight goals after holding a 9-5 advantage late in the second quarter.
Barton held edges in both shots taken (41-17) and ground balls (31-21) while sophomore goalkeeper
Avery Gandolf (Calvert County, Md.) made seven stops and earned the win.
For Chowan, Grace Taylor (Baltimore, Md.) tallied three goals and two assists but Ariel Johnson (Baltimore, Md.) suffered the loss despite 13 saves on the afternoon.
Barton will next compete in the Quarterfinals of the 2024 Conference Carolinas Championship on Monday, April 22. The tournament seedings will be determined by the league office later this week.
