WILSON, N.C. – The Barton baseball team (16-3) used a seven-run eighth inning to break open a close game on its way to a 15-9 victory over Lenoir-Rhyne (13-7) Tuesday afternoon at Nixon Field.

Salvatore Laimo (Philadelphia, Pa.) hit the game-winning RBI single in the bottom of the seventh inning while senior designated hitter
Tanner Halvorson (Eau Claire, Wisc.) added three hits and three runs batted in as the Bulldogs improved to 15-1 at home this season.
Lenoir-Rhyne lost despite home runs from Blake Bean (Farmington Hills, Mich.), Tyler McPeak (Denver, N.C.), Sal Carricato (Long Island, N.Y.) and Zach Evans (Brant, N.Y.).

Steven Maiers (Swedesboro, N.J.) pitched the final three innings to improve to 2-0 on the season while Lenoir-Rhyne's Spencer Floyd (Maiden, N.C.) (0-1) was tagged with the loss.
Barton returns to Conference Carolinas play on Saturday when the Bulldogs face Young Harris in Young Harris, Ga., on Saturday in a doubleheader beginning at 1:00 p.m. Lenoir-Rhyne faces Chowan later in the day at 7:00 p.m., at Fleming Stadium.
