YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. – The Barton baseball team (16-4, 3-4) fell to Young Harris (15-4, 5-2) by a 7-2 score in a Conference Carolinas weekend series opener Sunday afternoon at Zell B. Miller Field.
The Mountain Lions' Drew Bray (Canton, Ga.) and Jackson Kemp (Gainesville, N.C.) both drove in two runs while Young Harris used a three-run second inning to break a one-all tie and take the lead for good.
Young Harris' Ethan Stamps (Madison, Ga.) came through with the game-winning RBI single in the frame while Zachary Murray (Cleveland, Ga.) improved to 3-0 after earning the win. Murray pitched into the eighth inning while allowing just one earned run and striking out four batters.
