WILSON, N.C. – The Barton women's lacrosse team (5-8, 2-3) couldn't hold a five-goal lead in the third period and fell in overtime to North Greenville (3-10, 2-3), 16-15, Saturday morning at Truist Stadium and Electric Supply Company Field.
The Crusaders' Kylie Keen (Edgewater, Md.) scored the game-winner 40 seconds into overtime as the Crusaders rallied from an 11-6 deficit with just under 11 minutes remaining in the third stanza as the Crusaders snapped a five-game losing streak.
Keen scored three goals while Emma Mayew (Clayton, Del.) and Lauren Crane (Acworth, Ga.) both finished with a team-high four goals in the victory for the visitors.
Barton was led by junior attacker
Kate Matuza (Hampstead, N.C.) with a game-high five goals and senior attacker
Sydney Quinn (Fuquay-Varina, N.C.) totaled seven points – two goals and five assists – despite the loss. Quinn is tied for the team lead in goals scored (30) and ranks first in total points (49).
North Greenville's goalkeeper, Ainsley Woodham (Marietta, Ga.), made eight saves to earn the win while junior
Savannah Graves (Calvert County, Md.) suffered the loss in goal for Barton despite eight stops as well.
Barton remains at home to take on Emmanuel on Saturday, April 6, at 11:00 a.m., while North Greenville hosts Southern Wesleyan on Tuesday at 6:00 p.m.
