WILSON, N.C. – The Barton men's volleyball team (9-5, 4-4) made it two victories in a row with a 3-0 sweep of Lees-McRae (1-16, 0-8), 3-0, Saturday afternoon at Wilson Gymnasium in a Conference Carolinas contest.
The Bulldogs won over the Bobcats by scores of 25-11, 25-13 and 25-21 and also swept their second straight league opponent.
Barton was led by senior outside hitter
Brandon Johnston (Hawkes Bay, NEW ZEALAND) and freshman outside hitter
Luke Deppe (Mukwonago, Wisc.) with nine kills each while junior setter
Seth Deppe (Mukwonago, Wisc.) added 31 assists in the victory.
Barton also limited the Bobcats to a 0.012 hitting percentage while Lees-McRae lost its 11th straight contest. The Bobcats were led by Erel Bardah (Giv'ot Bar, ISRAEL) with six kills and Merritt Crowe (Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.) with 14 assists in the setback.
Barton next travels to Brooklyn, N.Y., to take on LIU Brooklyn on Friday, March 8, at 7:00 p.m., while Lees-McRae faces Campbellsville (Ky.) on Friday at 4:30 p.m., in Laurinburg, N.C.
