WILSON, N.C. – The Barton baseball team (22-5, 7-5) swept a Conference Carolinas home doubleheader with Francis Marion (13-12, 6-6), 4-2 and 7-2, Sunday afternoon at Nixon Field to complete a weekend league weekend series sweep of the Patriots. Barton also improved to 20-1 at home this year.
Game One – Barton 4, Francis Marion 2

Tanner Halvorson (Eau Claire, Wisc.) improved to 6-0 on the year with his second complete game of the season. Halvorson, who ran his winning streak to 17 games dating back to last year, struck out eight batters and hit his team-leading fourth home run of the spring.
Barton freshman outfielder
Gavin Gilmore (Eastampton, N.J.) also hit a two-run round-tripper in the fourth inning which proved to be the game-winner for the Bulldogs.
Francis Marion's Zack Summerville (Gastonia, N.C.) hit a pair of solo home runs but Josh Adams (Chesterfield, S.C.) fell to 2-1 after taking the loss despite going the distance.

Barton junior third baseman
Jared Beebe (Atco, N.J.) hit a home run to go along with four hits and three runs batted in while graduate student outfielder
Matthew Rivera (Egg Harbor City, N.J.) added a home run and three RBI as well as the Bulldogs completed the sweep of the Patriots.
Barton senior
Matt Rivers (Kernersville, N.C.) (2-2) allowed one run while pitching into the sixth inning and junior
Jacob Cabaniss (Raleigh, N.C.) picked up his first save of the year.
For Francis Marion, Noah Stout (Rochester Hills, Mich.) hit a home run but Tyson Hall (Cheraw, S.C.) (2-1) was tagged with the loss.
Barton travels to Hartsville, S.C., to take on Coker on Tuesday evening at 6:00 p.m., while Francis Marion hosts Wingate on Tuesday night at 6:00 p.m., as well.
