WILSON, N.C. – The Barton men's lacrosse team (3-6, 1-0) opened Conference Carolinas play with a resounding victory over Chowan (3-4, 0-1), 23-12, Saturday afternoon at Electric Supply Company Field and Truist Stadium.

Nic Lord (Wilmington, N.C.) finished with three goals and graduate student attacker
Matt Calleri (Holly Springs, N.C.) totaled six points – two goals and four assists – as the Bulldogs set a school single-game record for goals scored. Calleri now leads the squad in goals scored (12), assists (15) and total points (27) this year.
Barton jumped out to a 7-1 lead after one quarter of play and never looked back in rolling to the win. The Bulldogs held decisive edges in both shots taken (62-31) and ground balls (50-25) in the victory. Barton sophomore midfielder

Chowan lost despite the play of Eric George (Stony Plain, Alberta, CANADA) and Erik Dozzi (Coquitlam, British Columbia, CANADA). George scored five goals while Dozzi totaled three scores and seven assists in the setback.

Nathan Metcalf (Franklinton, N.C.) finished with seven saves in relief to earn the win while the Hawks' Gavin Koors (Ponte Vedra, Fla.) suffered the loss despite tallying 17 stops.
Barton hits the road to take on Emmanuel next Saturday, March 23, at 1:00 p.m., in a league contest in Franklin Springs, Ga., while Chowan hosts North Greenville next Saturday starting at Noon.
