WILSON, N.C. – The Barton men's lacrosse team (2-6) gave up a pair of goals in the final 15 seconds to lose a heartbreaker to Flagler (4-4), 13-11, Tuesday afternoon at Truist Stadium and Electric Supply Company Field.

The Saints' Trace McDonald (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) scored the match-winner to break an 11-all tie while Luke Burton (Rehoboth Beach, Del.) rounded out the scoring with four seconds left as Saint Augustine snapped a three-match losing streak.

McDonald finished with four goals and Luke Burton was one of three players to score twice for the Saints, who held off the Bulldogs after pushing out to an 11-8 lead early in the fourth stanza.

Barton, who scored three straight times to tie the contest at 11, was led by junior attacker Nic Lord (Wilmington, N.C.), junior midfielder Nick Calleri (Holly Springs, N.C.) and sophomore midfielder Tim Blanch (Duxbury, N.C.) with two goals each despite the loss.

Flagler held a 38-35 edge in shots taken while Nate Lehr (Chenango Bridge, N.Y.) earned the win in goal after stopping 11 shots.  Meanwhile, Barton junior goalkeeper Drew Wheeler (Fuquay-Varina, N.C.) made 10 saves but suffered the loss while graduate student attacker Matt Calleri (Holly Springs, N.C.) dished out five assists and now leads the team with 21 points on the year.
