MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Barton men's basketball team (9-13, 6-6) lost to Chowan (14-8, 8-5) by an 87-78 score on Wednesday evening at the Hawks Athletic Center and Bob Burke Court.
Chowan's Daylan Askew (Ahoskie, N.C.) led the way with a career-high 39 points as the Hawks completed the season sweep of the Bulldogs.
Barton was led by senior guard
Donaven Hairston (Atlanta, Ga.) with 16 points and senior guard
Reese McDonald (Raleigh, N.C.) came off the bench to tally 15 points but the Bulldogs suffered their second consecutive loss.
The Hawks, clinging to a 38-37 advantage at halftime, scored 49 points after the break and shot 50 percent (16-of-32) in the second half to pull away. The Hawks also held a 54-36 advantage on the boards in the victory.

Trey Crews (Durham, N.C.) added 14 points and senior forward
Trevon Spencer (Columbia, N.C.) crossed the 1,000-point mark in his Bulldogs' career tonight. Spencer finished with 11 points for the contest.
Barton returns home to take on Southern Wesleyan in a league contest Saturday at 4:00 p.m., while Chowan hosts King on Saturday afternoon at 4:00 p.m., as well.
