SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Barton men's basketball team (9-12, 6-5) lost at the buzzer to Converse (14-7, 7-5), 68-67, Saturday afternoon in a Conference Carolinas contest at Hannah Gymnasium.
The Valkyries' C.J. Jamison (Greer, S.C.) put back a missed shot with time running out as Converse escaped with the one-point victory. Jamison finished with 13 points on the day while teammate Uzziah Dawkins (Spartanburg, S.C.) totaled a team-high 22 points as Converse rallied from a 33-25 halftime deficit to take the win.

Donaven Hairston (Atlanta, Ga.) led all scorers with 26 points but the Bulldogs couldn't hold a 46-33 advantage with just under 14 minutes left in the game.

Reese McDonald (Raleigh, N.C.) also reached double figures for the visitors, totaling 11 points but the Bulldogs hit just three treys compared to the Valkyries eight three-pointers. Converse's Earl Burgess, III (Spartanburg, S.C.) added 13 points as well in the victory.
Meanwhile, the Bulldogs saw their three-game winning streak come to an end. Converse won its second straight contest.
Barton faces Chowan next on Wednesday, February 7, at 7:00 p.m., in Murfreesboro, N.C., in a conference match-up while Converse hosts Johnson & Wales on Wednesday starting at 7:00 p.m.
