WILSON, N.C. – The Barton women's lacrosse team (2-3) couldn't hold a four-goal lead entering the fourth and final stanza and fell to Bridgeport (Conn.) (0-1), 14-13, in overtime Tuesday night at Truist Stadium and Electric Supply Company Field.
The Purple Knights' Danielle Kreitler (Shelton, Conn.) scored the match-winner with 44 seconds left in the first overtime while Hannah McDermott (Guilford, Conn.) led all scorers with six goals as Bridgeport was able to come back and take the win despite an 11-7 deficit entering the final period.
McDermott also scored the last two goals of the fourth quarter in the final two-plus minutes to tie the score at 13-all and force overtime.

Kloe Martin (Dracut, Mass.) finished with a team-high four scores and sophomore midfielder
Taryn Ugliono (Hampstead, N.C.) added three goals as the Bulldogs suffered their third straight setback.
Bridgeport held a 35-31 advantage in shots taken while Jacklyn Mellia (Nanuet, N.Y.) earned the win in goal after stopping 14 shots. The Bulldogs' junior goalkeeper,
Savannah Graves (Calvert County, Md.), suffered the loss despite seven saves on the evening.
Barton remains at home on Saturday when the Bulldogs host Wilmington (Del.) beginning at 11:00 a.m., while Bridgeport takes on Chowan Wednesday at 1:00 p.m., in Murfreesboro, N.C.
