FROSTBURG, Md. – The Barton women's lacrosse team (2-1) fell for the first time this season with a 14-8 loss to Frostburg State (1-0) Friday afternoon at Bobcat Stadium.

The Bobcats' Megan Keller (Smyrna, Del.) led all scorers with four goals while Neila Haney (Lino Lakes, Minn.) added three scores as Frostburg State raced to an 8-1 advantage after one period of play and held off a late Barton rally to earn its first victory of the year.

Barton, which scored six straight goals to cut the margin to 9-8 with just over four minutes left in the third period, was led by junior attacker Kate Matuza (Hampstead, N.C.) and senior midfielder Christine Fettig (Lexington, S.C.) with two goals each.

The Bobcats responded by scoring the final five goals of the match and held the Bulldogs scoreless in the final stanza.  Frostburg State held advantages in both shots taken (50-23) and ground balls (27-14) while Nicole Gray (Huntingtown, Md.) earned the win in goal after stopping 10 shots on the day.  Barton sophomore Savannah Graves (Calvert County, Md.) took the loss despite a school-record 19 saves.
