WILSON, N.C. – The Barton men's volleyball team (6-4) opened the 2024 home portion of its schedule with a 3-0 sweep of Warner (3-3) Thursday evening at Wilson Gymnasium.
The Bulldogs defeated the Royals by scores of 25-21, 25-22 and 25-14 and snapped a three-game losing streak.
Barton was led by senior outside hitter
Brandon Johnston (Hawkes Bay, NEW ZEALAND) with a match-high 12 kills and nine digs to near a double-double while junior setter
Seth Deppe (Mukwonago, Wisc.) added 26 assists for the Bulldogs in the win.
Barton also limited Warner to a .000 hitting percentage and totaled five service aces in the victory.
The Royals were paced by Romone Rudolph (Miami, Fla.) with eight kills and Imanol Davila-Morales (San Juan, PUERTO RICO) chipped in with 25 assists in the losing effort. Junior outside hitter
Jake Adams (Clermont, Fla.) totaled eight kills as well for the Bulldogs, who were at home for the first time this year after nine road contests.
Barton opens Conference Carolinas play at home against Emmanuel on Friday beginning at 7:00 p.m., while Warner plays Bluefield University on Friday at 7:00 p.m., as well in Bluefield, Va.
