PEMBROKE, N.C. – The Barton women's volleyball team (7-17, 4-12) came up short to UNC Pembroke (12-17, 9-7), 3-1, in a Conference Carolinas contest Saturday afternoon at the Lumbee Bank Guaranty Court.
The Braves won over the Bulldogs by scores of 25-18, 25-14, 20-25 and 25-21 and swept the season series from Barton: UNC Pembroke won on Tuesday, October 1, by a 3-1 score in Wilson Gymnasium.
UNC Pembroke was led by Precious Daley (Des Moines, Iowa) with 15 kills and Tyler Patterson (Jacksonville, Fla.) finished with a double-double – 27 assists and 11 digs – and the Braves held a 58-44 advantage in kills in the win.
Barton senior outside hitter
Henly Sleight (Jackson, Mich.) paced the visitors with 12 kills and now has a team-leading 283 kills on the season while senior setter
Isabella Ream (York, Pa.) tallied 21 assists and 13 digs despite the setback.
Barton hits the road to take on Francis Marion in the regular season finale on Tuesday, November 12, at 6:00 p.m., in Florence, S.C., in a league match while UNC Pembroke hosts Chowan on Tuesday at 6:00 p.m.
