FLORENCE, S.C. – The Barton women's volleyball team (7-18, 4-13) suffered a 3-1 loss to Francis Marion (16-12, 14-4) Tuesday evening in a Conference Carolinas contest and the regular season finale at the Smith University Center.
The Patriots won over the Bulldogs by scores of 25-18, 25-17, 23-25 and 25-17 and swept the season series from Barton.
Francis Marion was led by Chaney Barth (Baldwin City, Kan.) with a match-high 18 kills to go along with 10 digs while Caroline Lucas (Easley, S.C.) added 13 kills as the home team hit .302 for the match in the triumph.
Mya Mendoza (Longwood, Fla.) totaled 50 assists as well for the Patriots, who improved to 14-1 in their last 15 contests.
Barton was paced by senior right side hitter
Lily Haaga (Herriman, Utah) with 15 kills and senior outside hitter
Henly Sleight with a double-double – 10 kills and 18 digs – in the losing effort. Barton also suffered its third straight setback.
Barton is next scheduled to compete in the 2024 Conference Carolinas Volleyball Championship Tournament which is set to begin on either Saturday or Sunday at higher seeds for the opening two rounds.
