WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Barton women's basketball team (2-2) pulled out a 64-56 win over Winston-Salem State (1-4) Tuesday night at the Charles E. Gaines Center.

Lauren Walker (Charlotte, N.C.) led all scorers with 21 points and went three-for-three from three-point land while junior guard
Lauren Mingo (Clinton, N.C.) added 13 points as the Bulldogs moved back to .500 on the year.
Holding a 33-29 edge with just over seven minutes remaining in the third stanza, Barton broke the contest with a 17-2 run over the next five minutes capped off by a field goal from senior guard
Jada Battle (Pinetops, N.C.). From there, the Bulldogs were able to withstand a late rally from the Rams to take the win.
Winston-Salem State lost despite a game-high 27 points from Christiana McLean (Wake Forest, N.C.). The Rams hit just 34 percent (22-of-65) of their shots including a one-for-six performance from the three-point line.
Barton hosts Shaw in a non-conference tilt on Thursday starting at 5:00 p.m.
Barton then opens Conference Carolinas play on Saturday, November 23, at 2:00 p.m., against Southern Wesleyan at Wilson Gymnasium while Winston-Salem State faces North Carolina A&T State in an exhibition on Thursday in Greensboro, N.C., starting at 7:00 p.m.
