WILSON, N.C. – The Barton women's basketball team (3-2) made it two victories in a row with a 73-62 win over Shaw (2-2) Thursday evening at Wilson Gymnasium.
Barton senior guard
Lauren Walker (Charlotte, N.C.) led all scorers with 21 points and hit seven of the 12 three-pointers on the evening for the home team in the win.
Barton raced to a 35-24 halftime advantage and stayed ahead of Shaw the rest of the way while eventually extending its lead to as many as 17 points – 58-41 and 61-44 – midway through the fourth period then cruised to the win.

Lauren Mingo (Clinton, Md.) added 17 points to go along with seven steals and seven assists as the Bulldogs forced Shaw into 25 turnovers in the triumph.
Shaw was led by Keibra Hopkins (Portsmouth, Va.) with 15 points and Zaniyyah Ross-Barnes (Philadelphia, Pa.) with a double-double – 13 points and 12 rebounds – in the setback.
Barton opens Conference Carolinas play on Saturday, November 23, at 2:00 p.m., versus Southern Wesleyan at home while Shaw hosts Elizabeth City State on Sunday starting at 2:00 p.m., in its CIAA opener.
