MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. – The Barton men's basketball team (3-1) went two-for-two in the Pickle Classic with an 82-72 triumph over Georgia Southwestern (3-2) Saturday evening at Kornegay Arena on the campus of the University of Mount Olive.

Shawn Nelson (Miami, Fla.) finished with a team-high 18 points while senior guard
Jordan Johnson (Bowie, Md.), who played for the Hurricanes last season, added 16 points as the Bulldogs won their third consecutive contest.
Georgia Southwestern's Justin Monden (Raleigh, N.C.) led all scorers with 27 points and Tim Hall, Jr. (Charlotte, N.C.) added a big double-double – 18 points and 18 rebounds – despite the loss.
Barton held a slim two-point advantage – 61-59 – with just under seven minutes before taking control with a 16-6 run over the five minutes to build its lead to a dozen points.

Trey Crews (Durham, N.C.) and junior forward
Trey Fields (Clayton, N.C.) both added 11 points off the bench as the Bulldogs won despite Georgia Southwestern's 44-24 advantage in points in the paint. Barton also hit nine treys in the win.
Barton returns home to take on Virginia State on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m., at Wilson Gymnasium while Georgia Southwestern hosts West Alabama Wednesday beginning at 6:00 p.m.
